Brunswick Music Festival hosts professional development series for the first time in 2018
Not only is this year’s Brunswick Music Festival set to host one of the most exciting and diverse line-ups in it’s 30 year history, it will for the first time include a professional development series for those wishing to take their passion a little further.
The program includes free panels with local industry professionals hosted by APRA/AMCOS and Music Victoria, open mic sessions at the Brunswick Songwriter’s Club and US hip hop aficionado Masta Ace will appear In Conversation with Melbourne DJ Mz Rizk.
Plus, artists and musicians can hone their skills at a brass workshop with the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble or a songwriter masterclass with Jake Mason (Cookin’ on 3 Burners) and Eric McCusker (Mondo Rock) for a cool $10.
In Conversation: Masta Ace
Go direct to the source with Melbourne-based DJ, event curator and radio presenter Mz Rizk as she goes deep into three epic decades with Brooklyn rapper Masta Ace.
In conversation about his legacy and place in the hip hop world, hear first hand about the artist’s creative process, journey and extraordinary life. The discussion will delve into the formula for continually pushing the boundaries, remaining inspired, original and relevant and navigating an industry with unavoidable peaks and valleys.
APRA AMCOS Presents: Songwriter Speaks
With Ella Hooper, Mojo Juju and host Simon Winkler.
APRA AMCOS and Brunswick Music Festival invite you to join us for a very special Songwriter Speaks. In celebration of International Women’s Day, Ella Hooper (Killing Heidi/solo) and Mojo Juju will be discussing what it takes to write music that inspires, connects and endures.
